I love Kristin Lavransdottir (never can remember how to spell it). It is a commitment, however. If you get through the first book, you'll definitely want to finish to see what happens to Kristin in particular.
If you like historical fiction, I wanted to tell you about the book that my pastor recently published, called We Never Stood Alone. It's only 99 cents for Kindle at Amazon right now, and worth every penny. I think you would enjoy it. Christian fiction, set during World War II, I found it to be a satisfying read.Sherryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04664642293286996220noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8642167378367548721.post-58780305662644901782015-10-29T15:55:00.828-07:002015-10-29T15:55:00.828-07:00Me too! The author also uses a lot of quotes straight from Oprah, so you get a very good idea of what she promotes.

Her beliefs, ideas and philosophies are not Biblical, nor from God, but rather very much of the world. I'm really interested in the Oprah book as some of my Christian relatives think she is just it and have great arguments to defend her brand of spirituality but I've always felt uncomfortable with all the weird stuff she brings across as truth and all packaged so nicely in giving back and tolerance.Susannehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02757963698816530787noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8642167378367548721.post-6669934381518435402015-10-24T14:30:56.117-07:002015-10-24T14:30:56.117-07:00Wow - you read some deep stuff. lol - I personally...Wow - you read some deep stuff. lol - I personally believe that we need to be careful what we read and believe and ultimately rely on the holy spirits leading on our believes. Always take what you read and hear carefully - I never believe what others say 100% I mull it over and think about it and have found that while I may not be in agreement with all Christians that often what I believe will make someone stop and think about what they believe. I hope that makes sense - I'm pretty tired right now.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11389095466274228251noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8642167378367548721.post-88272866861484253652015-10-24T12:12:19.986-07:002015-10-24T12:12:19.986-07:00Thanks for sharing Carrie. There were a few chapters I skimmed through, where he talks about the beliefs of the guests Orpah has had on her show that have influenced her, Marianne Williamson, Eckhart Tolle, etc. I find it damaging to read to much of their false teachings. Overall it was an eye-opening book.

Thanks for stopping by!Cathyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13105571098810204461noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8642167378367548721.post-84315770387593504062015-10-24T11:25:51.412-07:002015-10-24T11:25:51.412-07:00I used to be a devoted Oprah watcher. ...Thanks for stopping by and commenting Amanda! : )

I'm almost finished the book on Oprah and I thought it was very well done. The author did thorough interviews with family, co-workers and many of the new age guests she has had on her show. So I felt it was an accurate betrayal of Oprah and what she believes. The first part is more of a biography and the second part goes more deeply into how she came to believe and promote what she does. It's an eye-opener and disturbing.

Cathyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13105571098810204461noreply@blogger.com
