Praying for Iran...Booklets to Giveaway

"Unfortunately this morning, this early morning, they are catching all of us. Actually they are waiting for me in my house. Just I want to ask you to pray for us. We are sure God will never leave us or forsake us.

God bless you. sorry for giving you this bad news during Christmas, but I believe God will work for us. Hoping to see you soon. I love you very much. God be with you."
Voice mail left by a christian who was about to be arrested. December 2010

From Elam website: One year on, the dark shadow of those arrests:

"The dark shadow of arbitrary arrests and imprisonment still hangs over the church in Iran. There are at least 12 Iranian Christians in prison solely for their faith in Jesus Christ. Some like M. K. or S. R. have been sentenced to three years in goal on the charge of ‘sacrilege’ or supporting evangelicals. Others, like F. F.-M., arrested on December 26th are still awaiting their trial. There are another twenty-two or more Iranian Christians who have been released after paying an exorbitant bail and awaiting trial. Many others have left Iran with just their clothes on their backs to escape the persecution.

This Christmas (2011) will be particularly painful for all these believers as they reflect on what has happened. All of them would love to be living as normal witnessing Christians in the land of their birth. None of them sought confrontation with their government. They are truly suffering for their stand for Christ. And it is that suffering, in the mystery of God’s providence, which weaves it way round the story of the church’s growth this year."

Pray for:

• All those Christians still in prison.
• All those Christians released on bail awaiting their court case.
• All those Christians forced to leave the land they love.

Iran is often in the news and can seem like a scary place. But within the country the church is growing at a ramped pace. Many are turning to Christ and need our prayers.

"Remember those in prison as if you were their fellow prisoners, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering."  Hebrews 13:3

Awhile back I read and prayed through this booket called "Iran 30" It's a devotional type book challenging you to pray for the people of Iran for 30 days. Each day you read a little about Iran and its people, then are given 3 things to pray for. (Similar to what I've posted above) This booklet is put out by a ministry called Elam and author and speaker, Ravi Zacharias says of it here:

"Prayer above all recognizes the sovereignty of God - that He is the One who can accomplish far more than we can ask or imagine. I commend this sensitive and much needed prayer guide and Elam's vision to share God's hope with Iranians worldwide."

Elam's magazine says here:

"Christians can put on seminars and conferences about how to reach Iran; they can stay up night after night designing websites, translating books and writing TV programs, but without prayer, it's all human activity. There is nothing of eternal value.

Reaching Iran is all about prayer. Iran 30 exists to encourage prayer...This is not a time for talk, but a time for passionate prayer."

I love this quote by John Wesley (a 18th century revivalist):

"God does nothing, except in response to believing prayer."
