I've been reading the book of Acts lately, but for some reason decided to skim through the book of Psalms instead. My last post was on surrendering all to the Lord and it made me think of all the times I've failed Him in this.
Sometimes it's hard to surrender.
As I was skimming through the Psalms I came across this message three times.
It was this,
that His mercy is everlasting.
When we fail, His mercy is everlasting to those who fear Him.
That really hit me.
His mercy is everlasting, never-ending, He will always extend His mercy to those who love and fear Him.
Always.
We never have to worry whether this time, this failure, He will turn His back, because He promised His mercy is everlasting to those who fear Him!
I'm so thankful for His mercy.
For the LORD is good;
His mercy is everlasting,
And His truth endures to all generations. Psalm 100:5
For as the heavens are high above the earth, So great is His mercy toward those who fear Him;
As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us. Psalm 103:11-12 As for man, his days are like grass; As a flower of the field, so he flourishes. For the wind passes over it, and it is gone, And its place remembers it no more. But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting On those who fear Him. Psalm 103:15-17 |
Sometimes it's hard to remember `surrender all` means all our failures, too.
ReplyDeleteWe tend to think He's not big enough to handle this failure.
God is full of grace & mercy.
Thank you for such encouraging words. I love the Psalms (I love all the Bible, but if I had to have favorites then Psalms it would be) Why? Because it is here like not other place the Word reveals the truth: His Word is a "know Him" book NOT a "know how" book.
ReplyDeleteMy husband says it's like God just fills a briefcase with mercy and sits it by the door each morning. Fresh mercy just waiting on him to pick it up. I love that imagery. Everlasting is a beautiful word when coupled with mercy. ~Pamela
ReplyDeleteI used to tell my early elementary students that God's mercy, grace, and love are forever, and ever, and ever, AND ALWAYS. Wonderful promises! Thank you so much for linking this at Counting My Blessings.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing, Cathy! He is faithful to extend mercy, and that's a good thing :)
ReplyDeleteI have been dwelling on God's Mercy for some time now having spoken on it at a ladies meeting and I don't think we can ever fathom the depth of Love involved in God's Mercy
